After his recent and impressive 1st round knockout victory over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos the #2 ranked heavyweight in the division Francis Ngannou wants another crack at UFC gold. The fierce knockout artist is set on fighting the winner in the rematch coming up at UFC 241 on August 17th between former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and the current champion Daniel "D.C." Cormier. They will be in the main event at UFC 241 at they will headline an already stacked card that is highly anticipated.
Francis Ngannou in his last 3 fights has 3 knockouts and they are all over top contenders in the division including the person who many considered to be the best heavyweight in UFC history. Francis "The Predator" Ngannous finished Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, and Junior Dos Santos all early in the 1st round. Despite many feeling like he exposed when it comes to wrestling his opponents cannot get past the power of Francis.
The "Predator" Francis Ngannou had has already been in a championship bout but came up short. He faced former titleholder Stipe Miocic at UFC 220 and was outmatched completely as Stipe Miocic weathered the storm. After surviving a few heavy exchanges between the 2 heavyweights it was clearly visible that Francis Ngannou drained by the 3rd round. Stipe would then out wrestle Francis Ngannou which would kill his confidence completely. Stipe Miocic would win the fight that night and successfully defend his title via unanimous decision. The lack of confidence would then follow Francis Ngannou into his next fight with Derrick "The Black Beast" Lewis at UFC 229. Francis would go on to lose this fight also by unanimous decision.
Since those two big losses in his career, Francis Ngannou has turned it around as he has stacked 3 wins in superb fashion. The UFC's heavyweight division has been in a weird place as many thought the next title fight was gonna be between Daniel "D.C." Cormier and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. The organization could not come to terms on a deal so they decided to give the former champion Stipe Miocic his rightfully deserved rematch as the most accomplished heavyweight in the history of the division.
Aside from Daniel Cormier being injured and his fight not falling through with Brock Lesnar the heavyweight was kind of in a weird position with Stipe Miocic being absent. It would not have made sense to have Stipe fight anyone else other than Daniel Cormier because he deserved his rematch. While the division was waiting to see what would take place, Francis Ngannou has been on a tear on his climb back to a fight for the title. After his most victory over Junior Dos Santos who was potentially the next for a crack at the title, there is no denying that Francis deserves another chance. It will be really interesting to see who he will face as we will find out on August 17th after the rematch. But would wrestling get in "The Predator's" way once again?
