1. Dressing up

Everyone knows that half the fun of every occasion is getting to dress up. Whether it’s getting decked out in your school's apparel for a football game or buying clothes for some ridiculous party theme, there is some excitement to not wearing just your average, everyday outfit. Americans all over rep red, white, and blue to celebrate this amazing country, down from their striped socks to the bandanas on the top of their heads. But don’t forget about the tattoos and stickers people put on their faces, arms, chest, etc. The tattoos add a good touch to the perfect spirited outfit.

2. Food

Americans are known for loving food, so this holiday definitely brings out the best in us. One of the funnest activities to do on the Fourth of July is Barbecuing. From burgers to beers, theirs nothing quite like a barbecue with your friends, family, and endless amounts of food. Yum.

3. Fireworks

No matter how many times you’ve see fireworks, each time still seems to be mesmerizing and amazing. The different explosions of colors, all shapes and sizes, are extravagant, especially with the noise to add to the experience. Aside from just watching fireworks, many people buy and set off their own fireworks.

4. The Beach

For the Fourth of July, people swarm to the beach to enjoy one of America's great gifts. The beach is one of the most happy, relaxing places to spend a sunny day at. Pack some snacks and drink of your choice and you're all set to go!

5. Friends

With work schedules and other plans, during the week it can be impossible to just relax and spend time having fun with your friends. Thankfully, on Fourth of July everyone has off from work and can join in on the festivities. Holidays are that much better when you get to spend it with the people you love and enjoy most.

6. Bar Hopping

For those who are 21 and up, the Fourth of July can be the perfect time to hit up the bars. Especially the bars down the shore, as they are often very close to the beach. Since everyone rushes to the beach for the Fourth, at night time you can almost count on the fact that the bars will be filled to capacity. With drinks and lots of friends, the bars will make for the perfect night time party scene.

7. Instagrams

Who doesn’t love a good Instagram opportunity? With all the food, outfits, fireworks, and friends, the Fourth of July supplies many good opportunities to take photos. The Fourth is one of those days during the year when you know many people will be Instagramming. Some popular instagrams include American flags, the beach, sunset or a fruity drink. So let the best Instagram competition begin, along with the most creative hashtags possible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
