Fourteen Things We’ve Done in the Sims

Over the course of the past fifteen years, one of the most popular franchises has blossomed into an international wonder: The Sims. For those that don’t know, The Sims is a simulation game series where you can create people, houses, venues, etc. and do just about anything. While there are limits on what you can do in some Sims games--I’m looking at you Sims 4 for taking out the pattern and color changers--there are some pretty weird things that you can do in the Sims such as...

1. Summon aliens

Please note that this would only work with the help of certain game packs and expansions in and past Sims 3 such as Sims 3: Seasons and Sims 4: Get to Work. To get an alien, just purchase a telescope and have your sim look into it during the evening. If you manage to summon an alien though… I won’t say what happens, but you’ll be rewarded with a peculiar occurrence.

2. Use the motherlode cheat

Also known as one of the best cheats in the game. Grants you 50,000 simoleons and you can use it more than once. Truly a blessing.

3. Let your sims drown in swimming pools

While I personally didn’t allow this to happen, there’s a number of people out there that

greatly enjoy drowning Sims. It’s absolutely horrendous.

4. Make Sims of you and your friends

Come on, we’ve ALL done it. Making a family of yourself and your friends, putting

them in a house, and giving them careers is truly an entertaining experience.

5. Get frustrated by the routing of the Sims

When Sims yell at furniture, we yell out loud too. However, it’s for a completely different reason.

6. Make random Sims and make up stories about them

If you enjoy creating stories and intricate plot lines, then you have definitely done this.

7. Kick families out of their houses so you can get the really nice house

...Okay, but can you blame us? They have really nice furnishings.

8. Become annoyed by the randoms

We all know too well when Eliza Pancakes comes up to your door at 3:00 a.m. when no one else would. The townies can be really wonderful but they can also be horrible. And when they’re horrible...We all have our methods for dealing with those difficult Sims.

9. Use the testingcheatsenabled cheat code

The other amazing cheat code. It allows you to edit your sims in CAS, add townie sims to your family without making friends with them, edit the townie sims, make your sim friends with everyone, and stabilizing their needs, and more! It’s truly glorious.

10. Make an evil sim

Either you gave them the trait or made them do evil things. Often both of these strategies are used. Is it entertaining? Depends on how malicious you are in real life. And I’m not talking about in game.

11. Do a Sims challenge from the internet

Yup, they exist. Why? Well, they give a set of rules and they enable you to check and see if you can follow said rules. These challenges range from various legacy challenges, runaway teen challenges, and etc. The list goes on and on. If you really want to know more, Google carefully.

12. Download mods

While some shy away from it due to possible downloadable viruses, almost all the websites where you can download these mods are safe. But why would you download mods? Some mods, such as Overwatch, can help you manage your game and make it move faster. This especially comes in handy in Sims 3 because of how slow a save file can be once you get really far into it.

13. Download custom content

Online you can find some pretty sweet furnishings for your Sims. This custom content can range from new hair, clothes, fabrics (at least in Sims 3), textures, houses, furniture, and more. All of these can make your game look so great and so much more real.

14. Actually have do a normal playthrough

After all of these weird things we’ve forced our Sims to do, we must have some sane gameplay. Let them have a tiny house with bad furnishings, let them fall in love, and let them do stupid things on their own. Let your Sims have freedom, and let them be free.

What are things that you have done on the Sims? Please leave a comment stating what you’ve done!

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
