Four Weeks Left in Happy Valley: Your Bucket List

Four Weeks Left in Happy Valley: Your Bucket List

So there's approximately one month (4 weeks, 28 days, 672 hours, or 40, 320 minutes) left in second semester / this entire school year — but who's counting? Asking where the time has gone? Trust me, I am too.

It seems like six weeks ago we were watching the Penn State/Ohio State game, all decked out in white, banking on the overtime to bring us back into the game. It seems like last month we were watching Fratland transform into a winter wonderland — each house a blown-up fairy tale castle, glowing as we froze and walked from house to house with our trendy frackets. It seems like two weeks ago we WON THE BOWL GAME in NYC. It seems like last week we had our first snow day in eight years. It seems like just yesterday we began daylong season — the fifth and greatest season Penn State celebrates.

As we head into the last and final four weeks of the semester and school year, here's your bucket list to help you have a killer last 40,320 minuets in Happy Valley.

1. Daylong.

Penn State is constantly ranked (10Worthy, BroBible, Newsweek, etc.) for having one of the greatest party atmospheres in the country. Well, we can thank daylong season for this one. Nothing is better than Saturdays being 65 degrees and sunny, watching frat boys decked out in throwback basketball jerseys and thrift store finds, and dancing the day away at some of the biggest celebrations that Penn State students put on. It may seem like the longest day of your spring semester, but daylongs are what make up “the 5th season of the year" here in Happy Valley. Definitely do it.

2. Hike Mt. Nittany

Hiking Mt. Nittany is not only a great workout for you to do with some friends, but it's beautiful, fun, relaxing and something unique to Happy Valley. How many other schools do you know of that have a gorgeous hiking mountain less than 10 minutes away by car? Take advantage of being in central Pennsylvania and the gorgeous weather (no more snow, and pure sunshine) and go hike our own Mt. Everest – Mt. Nittany.

3. PSU Eeeats

If you don't follow @psueeeats on Instagram, go do that now. Penn State is notorious for our delicious (off-campus) dining experiences. Waffle Shop, Naked Egg, Rotelli's, Faccia Luna, DP Dough — you want it? We have it. Make it a priority to go on your own foodie adventure and experience all the EEEATS that glorious State College has to offer.

4. ENJOY STATE!

Take this however you want it to — whatever you enjoy doing here at State, GO DO IT. With only one month left in the semester, do everything and anything that you enjoy most at state. Playing basketball in Pollock? Go play ball. Watching boys play basketball in Pollock? Go watch. Run through the Arboretum and through our gorgeous campus. Pose on the Lion Shrine. Go tanning on Old Main Lawn. Spend an extra night out per week in Fratland. Take advantage of our bubble here in central PA – c'est la vie.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
