It is safe to say that recently, the weather patterns in Maryland have been about as back and forth as riding on a sailboat in the middle of a hurricane (only a slight exaggeration). You get up in the morning, put on a warm, fuzzy sweater and a cute pair of boots and by mid-afternoon you question why on earth your cute little sweater idea even crossed your mind. Not only is this time of year unpredictable weather wise, but many other days in between hold true that Maryland weather can be absolutely strange.
1. Freezing in the morning and unpredictably warm by the afternoon.
Every morning, I wake up freezing. I roll over and my sheets feel as if ice cubes had resided on them throughout the night. This leads me to believe that due to the freezing temperatures my room withholds, it will be just the same outside. I bundle up, go outside to go to school and I am warm as can be until BAM! One in the afternoon rolls around and it is 70 some degrees outside.2. Rain in one yard and none in the next.
Oddly enough, I have seen this strange occurrence quite a few times in my 22 years of living. I have stood in my front yard wondering why the houses a little down the road from me were soaked and I was standing outside dry as can be. I would then see that there was a cloud of rain a little ways down from me moving right towards my direction and that I would not be dry for much longer. It is actually a pretty cool sight to see!3. "If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes."
Chances are if you are from Maryland you have heard this phrase quite afew times. Whether you don’t like how hot it feels or you want the rain to stop so you can go outside, just give it five minutes and it will change completely. Maryland is notorious for its odd weather patterns
4. Getting forecasted to get dumped on by snow or rain, but never getting what was expected.
Now that winter is right around the corner, I am waiting for all of the snow forecasts to come rolling in. Many times, we get the weather that is predicted for our area, but other times we don't get even get half of what was forecasted. Now I know this is partially on the weather men that are saying what we should be expecting. But, if this isn't weird enough for you, take this situation for example. A few years back, the snow apocalypse was upon us. Grocery stores were empty, people stocked up on food, milk, toilet paper and the state of Maryland was in a frantic as we were issued as being under a state of emergency for inclement weather. As we got closer to the day the snow storm was supposed to hit, forecasters urged us to prepare for what was ahead with no indication that this storm would blow right over us. Well, it did.
