Whether you are a vegan, vegetarian, or just someone who appreciates a good meal that is plant based this list has something for you. It can be hard for those of us who are vegan to find a restaurant that can accommodate our life style, through my own searching I have found four restaurants in Northeast Pennsylvania that have delicious vegan options.

1. Kawaii Kitty Cafe

Kawaii Kitty Cafe in Philadelphia on South 4th Street is a brand new place I have had the pleasure of visiting. The food options here are very limited but they do have great coffee that can be made with soy milk to be vegan, and they have several vegan baked good options. Not all their baked goods are vegan, make sure to ask what is vegan if that is what you are going there to get.

The major selling point of this place is that they have a cat room. Now what is a cat room you might ask? Well, at Kawaii Kitty Cafe there are cats that you can play with for one hour while you ear your food, or drink your coffee. The staff is a group of energetic, friendly people who seem to love their jobs (I can see why they would). You can walk into the restaurant but since they just opened last week reservations are needed to play with the cats, I saw lucky enough to be let in to play with the cats when someone else forgot their reservation. The cats at Kawaii Kitty Cafe vary in age and are all adoptable, that all sounds great to me! I can eat vegan cookies and play with adorable cats, where do I sign up?

2. Blackbird Pizzeria

Blackbird Pizzeria in Philadelphia on South Street is a restaurant I have been going to for the past four years, it was my first vegan restaurant experience. The restaurant and the staff have a unique style about them, from the strange music playing, to the tattoo parlor style of the art work on the walls. Best things on the menu in my opinion are the cheese steak, the cheese fries, the root beer BBQ wings, and the early bird cookie. Blackbird Pizzeria is unfortunately inconsistent with their food being good, sometimes everything is delicious other times they are off their mark. The staff at Blackbird Pizzeria are not friendly and seem to be annoyed by anything you tell them, lucky for you that they will only speak to you when you order your food and that is it. Why include this restaurant if the staff isn't great? I included Blackbird Pizzeria because when their food is great, it is really an experience in itself. I don't go there for the staff I go there to eat my favorite cheese steak in the state. Please go try the food here, but go later in the night towards closing time, that is when the food tastes better.

3. World of Falafel

World of Falafel on South State Street in Newtown is a vegetarian and kosher restaurant that has been open for a little over a year and is my best friend's favorite place to eat. If you are going here for vegan food then make sure to ask if what you are ordering is vegan, I believe everything there is vegan except a few dressings. Personal recommendations for World of Falafel are the Falafel sandwich because you can pick your on toppings and they have many choices to pick from, piece of advice though if you get a dressing get it on the side otherwise your falafel will get soggy. The staff here is really nice and helpful, there is usually only two guys there one of which is the owner of the store. The store is located on a beautiful street in Newtown and the inside is very inviting.

4. Blue Sage Vegetarian Grille

Blue Sage Vegetarian Grille is on 2nd Street Pike in Southampton, PA. I have been going here to eat for about a year they recently expanded their restaurant to this bigger location. The new location is a bit more fancy then the last location which was across the street. As the name says this place is Vegetarian but many of the options here can be made vegan if you ask. This is a great place to take a date, dress up in formal attire and not have to pay the price of a five-star formal restaurant. There is a beautiful waterfall when you walk in to be seated, there is also a full bar if you want to have drinks with friends. I have taken non vegan/ vegetarian friends here and they still love the food. My personal recommendation for here is the ginger miso soup which isn't always on the menu, but it can be made if you ask. The fingerling appetizer was amazing, I had it for the first time last week and I couldn't get enough of those tiny taters! For dessert if you are vegan, I love the Toffee, but if you aren't vegan, they also have an apple pie that is strange yet wonderful.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
