Four rings, four reasons. Here are four reasons why New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady is the greatest of all time, otherwise known as, the "GOAT."
1. 201 Wins
Recently, Tom Brady was able to record his 201st career win; this is the most career wins in NFL history for a quarterback. Tom Brady has been in the NFL for 16 seasons but has only officially played in 14; he did not start a game in 2000 and missed all of 2008 with a torn ACL. This would mean that Brady has averaged 14.4 wins per season. Tom Brady has had four seasons where he has had 14 or more wins in that season, including one season where he went 16-0 in the regular season. To put things into perspective, Peyton Manning has never had a 14 win season and Joe Montana has only had two 14 win seasons.
2. Four Super Bowl Rings
Tom Brady joins Terry Bradshaw from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers as the only quarterbacks to have four Super Bowl victories. Brady won the Super Bowl in his official first season as a starter against the 'greatest show on turf' the St. Louis Rams and also won the MVP of the game. He led the Pats down the field setting up the game-winning field goal. He won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2003-04 beating the Panthers and Eagles. In Super Bowl XLIX, Brady again was named MVP as he went 37-for-50 for 328 yards and four touchdowns. He threw two fourth-quarter TDs as the Patriots erased a 10-point deficit.
3. Division Titles
Tom Brady is aiming for his 14th division title which would just push his record further. Brady currently has 13 division titles which is number one in NFL history for most division titles. Joe Montana has 10 division titles, and for those saying, "Well Brady's division statistically was weaker than Montana's in his prime." Not true. Joe Montana played in a division with the Saints who from 1980-1982 only won nine games. Nine out of 41 games, that's weak. Not to mention the Atlanta Falcons who from 1981-1990 never won more than seven games.
4. Post Season Dominance
Tom Brady holds the NFL record for most playoff wins by a quarterback with 22 and the record for most playoff games started with 31. Joe Montana only has 16 post season wins. Peyton Manning, John Elway, and Terry Bradshaw all have 14. Also, to punish Brady for losing two Super Bowls is absurd. You mean to tell me that six super bowl appearances, also the most by a quarterback, should be overlooked because he lost two out of six? I do not think so. Also, not to mention, Brady is first in playoff passing yards, touchdowns, completions, comebacks, game-winning drives and pass attempts.
