Four Reasons I am Ready for College

Everyone has a different take on this one, so here is mine.

Four Reasons I am Ready for College

Some teenagers are reluctant to leave home because of he responsibilities involved. Many others, however, cannot wait to get away from home by the time their senior year of high school hits. I will admit, I am one if those teenagers who wishes time would go by faster so I can go and do things I have never done before. But my reasoning may be a bit different from theirs.

1. That sibling best friend. I am an only child and therefore you could say I have always been alone. Being an only child is not what it is cut out to be. You simply do not have that sibling who you can call your best friend. I want to be able to find a friendship in college that is so great that I can compare them to a sibling. I want that one person who will stand up for me no matter what and always be by my side.

2. To have fun. As an only child, I haven't had the opportunity to go out and do things other people my age have done. My parents are very protective of me, as I am their only one, and I have to say I'm not complaining about it too bad, but I do wish that I could have done more fun things throughout my high school career. In the future, I want to be able to say that I have lived.

3. To find myself. I honestly could not describe myself to you if you wanted me to. In my eyes I am just existing and not living. If I do not find who I am, I may never know, and will not be able to live, as I previously said. I need this time alone to figure out what career I want to pursue as time is running short. And most importantly, I will mentally feel better if I am able to describe to you who I am.

4. Meet similar people. This one sort of relates to number one, but I want to finally meet people who I can relate to. In living where I currently do, I have yet to meet anyone with the same upbringing, values, or interests as I have.

I understand that the college experience is different for everyone and that we all want something different out of it, but these are the most important to me beside of furthering my education. I hope you enjoyed this and if you can relate in any way, please let me know!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
