. If you're planning a trip to this fascinating and enchanting metropolis, you'll want to spend quite a bit of time researching all the attractions that you can't leave the city without seeing and enjoying.
In this article, I'm going to give you a head start! When you land at Charles de Gaulle Airport, remember to pick up your rental car at the terminal and begin your Paris adventure right away!
Let's get started with our description of just a few of Paris's many fantastic attractions.
1. The Palais-Royal Gardens
The Palais-Royal Gardens is a spot you simply must visit and explore during your stay in Paris. While this destination might not get the headlines the way some more notable monuments and structures in the city do (I'm looking at you, Eiffel Tower!), you'll be enchanted by the lovely formal gardens and refined buildings within the palace grounds.
The Palais-Royal is a 17th-century landmark. King Louis XIV lived here during some parts of his childhood. As you explore the gardens, make sure to admire the fountain and enjoy some time checking out of the designer boutiques, perfumers, and antiquaries that are on the property. You should eat at the Restaurant du Palais Royal, as well.
2. Palace of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles is one probably the world's most famous and admired palace. When you cast your gaze on this spectacular and opulent construction and its grounds, you will probably find it hard to believe that it started out as a hunting lodge and was developed into a royal palace in the 17th century. Make sure to set aside ideally an entire day to see and explore Versailles. There is a great deal to admire and enjoy.
You can easily drive here from downtown Paris by taking the A13 motorway to exit 5 and following the signs to the palace. Parking is located in front of the palace and is available 24/7.
3. The Louvre
The Louvre is the largest and best-known art museum in the world. You'll be amazed when you see this magnificent and sprawling building, and no trip to Paris is complete without a visit to this historic destination.
The Louvre (or the Louvre Palace) began its existence in medieval times a fortress. It later became an artists' gallery, allowing them to study the Old Masters and antiquities. You simply must devote a significant amount of time to properly exploring and appreciating the Louvre. Think about going there for two or three days in a row, depending on how much time you have in Paris. Each day you'll find you discover something new, and a few hours simply is not enough time to appreciate this one-of-a-kind attraction.
If you love antiquities, you'll be thrilled to find that the museum has artefacts from a wide range of cultures around the world. And if you're a Renaissance and Baroque art enthusiast, you're sure to think you're in heaven. Make sure to see the famous Mona Lisa while you're in the Louvre.
4. Place de la Concorde
The Place de la Concorde is the largest square in Paris and it is well worth a visit during your stay in the city of lights.
Dating back to the 18th century, this historic square is situated between the Tuileries Garden and the Champs-Elysees. When the square was first established, it was called Place Louis XV and featured a statue of Louis XV on horseback. This was taken down with the French Revolution in 1789. It was at that time that the square's name was changed
