Let's all take a second to thank the world for dogs. These four-legged lovers are the best things that we could have been blessed with. We all remember the first dog that we ever had as being our first best friend, our first play pal or even our first sleeping buddy. The thought of going home every day to someone who loves you unconditionally is so satisfying. I know most people will say they can't wait to hang out with their boyfriend, or maybe even go out and get ice cream with some friends, but I am just as excited to do those things as I am to snuggle up with my two best friends.
The most memorable first experience has to be when they get a bath, or even the time they get their first brand new toy. The joy that you see on their face never seems to fade. They might fight you the whole way as you put them in the tub and make sure all the dirt is off of their muddy paws, but secretly they enjoy the attention. They especially enjoy the wet mess they're about to make when they shake at the most inconvenient time! As for the new toy that you get them on the way home, they immediately see it and snatch it out of your bag before you even know what's happening. They will more than likely be out in the yard for the rest of the night, expecting you to be running right behind them. They will expect you to throw that toy about a billion times, and you do because how can you resist those puppy dog eyes?
You can't possibly forget the car rides! It's like going on the most exciting adventure to them. They hop in the car and automatically stick their head out the window. There are so many new, fresh smells and so many different faces that pass by. The wind hits their face as their slobbery tongue sways left and right, and their tail is right behind it as it's going a mile a minute. Happiness is pouring through them, and you think to yourself, it's the little things in life that mean the most. As you go through town, they'll take a second to turn around and acknowledge you. You can see it in their eyes that they are thanking you, and that's all the gratitude that you will ever need.
Regardless of whether you're a dog or cat person, let's take a second to think about how much happiness we can dedicate to our animals being there for us. After a long day, they will be the ones who are there, whether it's by choice or it's because you're forcing them to love you. They'll be laying on your lap as thankful as they could ever be that they got so lucky to have a mom (or dad) like you. To us, they are our happiness... But to them, we are their world.
