4 Fun And Cheap Dates

If you're ever contemplating what to do with someone you are interested in for a first date, or a first time hanging out, don't resort to "Netflix and chill." While we all love a good corny Netflix movie and cuddling, that isn't very exciting or a good way to get to know someone you are interested in. If you are looking for a way to take a love interest of yours out without dishing out a lot of money, here are some fun date ideas that will most definitely keep them interested in you.

Ice cream and beach/park date

Bring the person you are interested in to your favorite ice cream place. A cup of ice cream is maybe $4 tops, so possibly paying for your date will be cheap, but still a very nice gesture. After getting ice cream, take your date to a nearby park or beach and lay out a blanket to sit down and get to know each other. What is more romantic than sitting under the stars with your date? Nothing! This date is cheap, thoughtful, and a fun way to get to know someone.

Mini-Golf

Another super fun way to get to know a person is by engaging in friendly competition. Look up the closest mini golf location by you and take your date mini golfing! A cool date like this is most likely under $20, and it's a really fun and playful way to get to know someone. Maybe make a wager: who ever loses buys lunch or dinner!

Cliff Jumping/ Hiking

If you're interested in doing something more adventurous with your love interest, suggest taking them cliff jumping or hiking at a beautiful location somewhere. Not only are waterfalls so romantic, imagine how fun that would be! Pick a beautiful sunny day sometime this summer and step out of your comfort zone. Trying something new with someone is not only a great way for them to get to know you better, but also a good way to know them a little better. The plus side to this bold date is that it's basically free- all you have to pay for is gas!

Take a train into the city

If you really want to impress the person you like, buy a two-way ticket for the both of you and surprise them with a trip to the city! Train tickets aren't that expensive, and you don't necessarily have to buy anything while you are there. Take your date to any cool museums or free exhibits. If you are not interested in doing that, spend the day sight seeing or just walking around. The city will make conversations flow so easily because there is so much to talk about. This will really show them how fun and adventurous you are. How much better does a trip to the city sound rather than "Netflix and chilling"?

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
