I’m currently sitting in an unheated dorm room in frosty Pennsylvania and my phone is telling me it is 12 degrees outside. I’m swamped in homework, and tomorrow I have a morning class. Needless to say, I’ve gotten to thinking about where I’d rather be right now. Here are four fictional places I would rather be right about now.
1. Stars Hollow
What "Gilmore Girls" fan hasn’t wanted to experience the community and charm of Stars Hollow? Although I wouldn’t exactly be escaping the cold by going to Connecticut, maybe some of Loerlai’s love for snow would rub off on me. Plus I think a dosage of Lorelai’s wit and a mug of Luke’s coffee would warm me up.
2. New York City in any Romantic Comedy
It doesn’t matter if it’s "13 Going on 30," "Maid in Manhattan," or even a series like "Friends," NYC is always perfect in romantic comedy films. As a Rom Com enthusiast, I have often dreamed of living in NYC in an apartment like that of Mindy Kaling or Carrie Bradshaw.
3. New Girl Loft
Jess, Nick, Winston, and Schmidt might not seem rich but they’ve got some pretty nice digs with their loft. There is never a dull moment in the often crowded and perfectly decorated loft where the gang lives. Maybe it’s not so much the venue that draws me to this location but the company.
4. New Penzance Island from "Moonrise Kingdom"
Wes Anderson’s "Moonrise Kingdom" takes place on the fictional New England Island of New Penzance. I’m a seacoast New England girl and I think what I love about New Penzance is that it captures everything that my childhood was. The adventures through the forests and the magical aura of the place remind me of being young and make me long to go on adventures like Sam and Suzy.
