It is impossible to live a life absent of mistake. Every single soul has monsters in their closet and every monster has a different way of showing its teeth. Some hide in the darkness, afraid of what may happen if they expose themselves. Others dive right into the madness, lunging at any chance they get to rip apart another. No matter what form your monsters mold themselves into, they are still your monsters. You cannot avoid them, nor can you make them disappear. The moment each one arrives, it seeps through your skin and latches onto your insides for dear life. Nothing you do will release them. All you can do is accept that they are there and are not going anywhere. You must learn to live with the monsters or let them destroy you.
I used to fight with my monsters. Often. Every time I kicked one out, it would always come back. No amount of fire, bullets, or blades would rid them. Eventually I learned this awful truth and slowly began to realize that this particular truth may not be so awful after all. I began to accept my past mistakes and tragic mishaps I had been collecting since the day I was born. All of my shameful acts should be taken as lessons. Did I do something wrong? Yes. Can I change it? Not a chance. So why invest time and energy into something you can't control?
In a perfect world, we would not be judged by our past. We would not have to sit in constant reminder of our mistakes that never allow us to move on from what we did. The world is far from perfect, but that's okay. In fact, it's exciting. A perfect world sounds like a complete bore. Our mistakes, our past, and our flaws all string together with our positives to create the soul inside each and every one of us.
I do not believe in regret. I believe every action we have taken since day one has made us who we are today. Any slight differences from day to day could have affected the outcome of our lives greatly. Sometimes we are in the right place at the right time. Sometimes we just get lucky. And, sometimes we don't. However, every outcome of every situation plays off another and leads us into the bodies we possess and silently allows us to choose the true colors of our reality.
