As Halloween comes to a close and Christmas draws near, there always seems to be a holiday missing that people tend to overlook: Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, altogether is one of the greatest holidays in existence because of the fact that we get to eat an abundance of food and hang with family, yet it is constantly overshadowed by the ever-looming presence of the Christmas season approaching.
When the clock strikes midnight on October 31st, everything seemingly turns to Christmas. From people starting to pull out their decoration boxes to people beginning to play Christmas music, Thanksgiving is constantly thrown to the wayside in order for there to be more room made for Christmas and this is completely unacceptable.
Although Christmas is an exciting holiday and Starbuck’s has even started selling their signature holiday cups, we need to remember that IT IS NOVEMBER! Christmas isn’t even until December. It’s just unrealistic that we should skip over one holiday and go straight to the next, especially a holiday in which we get to eat a bunch of food. Thanksgiving has feelings too and we should celebrate it!
Thanksgiving is a wondrous time of the year and we shouldn’t even begin to think about celebrating Christmas until at least two days after Thanksgiving when we’ve all already gone into a food coma from eating too much turkey in the days prior. I mean seriously getting ready for Christmas in November before Thanksgiving even starts is insane and should result in holiday lock up for treason against Thanksgiving. I mean, Christmas gets its own month and so does every other holiday. It’s just not right that we should attempt to give it two months when Thanksgiving is equally important. How can you say no to food?
So as November continues to dawn on us and December is still a ways away, we need to get into the Thanksgiving Spirit, not the Christmas one—at least not yet.
