Forever My Little Brother

You make me so proud beyond words.

Forever My Little Brother
Kylee Leanne Miller

To my little brother

At only 10, you have taught me so much about life. You have taught me to never ever give up, to keep moving forward even when life throws so many punches, and no matter what happens, always keep thriving to be better. I never thought when I was 10 years old, the first time I met you at the hospital, we would end up being best friends. You make me so proud beyond words.

At only 10, you have exceeded all my expectations for you in sports. Even though you love basketball, baseball is your life. When you grow up you want to be in the MLB (Major League Baseball) and play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. I will do whatever it takes to push and support you to get there. I love going to your baseball games, there is nothing else I would rather do during my summer nights. Every game I cheer you on until I do not have a voice because you never have an "off" game. You are the best 10-year-old pitcher there is.

At only 10, you are so smart. Fourth grade is such a breeze for you, and I loved when mom called me to tell me how you're already on a fifth-grade reading level. Your teachers are very impressed with you. Even though you told me school is boring, I know you love it deep down inside. You make me feel old because I graduated high school in 2014, and you're going to be a big senior in 2025. Don't blink, it will be here before you know it, and I'll be 28 years old at your graduation (yikes!).

At only 10, you make me laugh more than anybody else. You always have the most annoying comments to anybody that says anything stupid. Your dance moves are out of this world. I always laugh so hard when you FaceTime me just to "dab" on the phone. I love your daily Snapchats. They make going to college two hours away a little easier. You always discover the newest Snapchat filters and put them to use. You truly rock Snapchat.

At only 10, you are a blessing. You are exactly what I needed and I am so thankful God gave me a little brother. I am overly excited to see all that you accomplish in your life. Even though you act like you are too cool for me, just know that I appreciate you so much. Thank you for being a sassy 10-year-old and being my role model. You are forever my little brother.

Love,

Your big sister

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
