To My Cousin Who Lives Miles Away

Distance can't shake the bond that we have.

To My Cousin Who Lives Miles Away

Dear cousin,

I miss you. This whole long-distance thing kind of sucks. Not being able to see each other when we want to is one of the worst things about living miles away from one another. I wish we lived closer so we could see each other more often. When we were younger, we were at least able to see each other maybe once every year or every other year, but now with our crazy and busy lives we are lucky if we even get that amount of time to spend together. It's the worst when you finally come into town and I'm not even around to see you. Hopefully life will slow down a little bit for both of us, that way one of us can plan a trip to visit soon. I'm crossing my fingers that it is actually sooner rather than later.

Even though we live miles away, I am very thankful I have a cousin who is close to my age that I can relate to and know I can talk to about anything no matter what. Whether it's just gossip about boys, friends, crazy family members, etc., it is always an entertaining conversation when we do find the time to talk and catch up. I'm even more thankful that even though these conversations don't happen daily or even on a weekly basis, things never change between us. I know no matter what, we are always here for one another. I can pick up my phone at any second and know that you'll be there. When we do get to see each other, it is time filled with laughter and memories are made. I don't remember a time where we were together and didn't do something crazy. You're always willing to have a good time and go on adventures. I can't wait for our next one. In the meantime, I will continue to look at pictures we have taken together that show our wild times.

The bond between cousins is like no other. Sometimes we don't realize how lucky we are. People say cousins are your forever friends. We were born cousins, but we are friends by choice and that is another reason our bond is so special. I cannot wait to see where we both go in life. The future is bright for us both! Don't ever give up on your dreams no matter what. I'm hoping our bond only grows closer as we grow older.

I hope everything is going well! Just because we live many miles away does not mean I'm not here for you. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, right? Whether life is going exactly how you want it to or going in the complete opposite direction of what you hoped, I am always a text, phone call or FaceTime call away. Thanks for being you! I couldn't imagine my life without you. Hope to see you soon!

Love,

Your cousin

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

The Unwritten Rules Of "Talking"

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
