For You, Dad

To the man who deserves the world.

For You, Dad
Bethany Rowland

Dad,

I think by now you've figured out that I'm a total "Daddy's Girl." Ever since I was little, you have been right there by my side. This Father's Day, I hope you feel extra special and loved, because you deserve it.

I can't even begin to explain how blessed I am to have a dad as amazing as you. You're a constant support system for me in everything I do, and you adventure right along with me! I think it's safe to say that you're one of the most determined people I know. You have accomplished some really amazing things in your life so far, and, whether you know it or not, I am so immensely proud of you!

I give you a lot of credit for the person I have become. From your constant dad jokes that only you think are funny to your never-ending push for me to reach my fullest potential, every little thing you do has shaped me in some way.

Your motivation to pursue your dreams is so impressive to me, and it has shown me that I can do anything if I simply put my all into it. Your sense of humor has taught me that it's okay, and often good, to laugh at myself. Your love for my mom and the ways that you go out of your way for our family show me what I want my future family to look like. Your passion and fire for Christ shines in ways that you don't even see and proves to me just how joyful life can really be.

I could go on talking forever about how much you mean to me, and how I won because God gave me the best dad in the world. But instead, I'll just say thank you.

Thank you for knowing how to make me laugh, even when your jokes aren't funny.

Thank you for raising me to be a woman of Christ.

Thank you for my sense of humor and my creative spirit.

Thank you for adventuring with me and pursuing my passions alongside me.

Thank you for being strong when I need you, and thank you for being vulnerable and showing me that even the strongest men in the world are human, too.

Thank you for being my role model and leading through your actions.

Thank you for always encouraging me and helping me find ways to pursue my dreams (even when I have no idea what those dreams are...)

Thank you for loving me through all my phases (the good, the bad, and the awkward).

Thank you for supporting me no matter what, but also for helping me see things in a realistic light.

Thank you for guiding and giving me the confidence to make my own decisions.

Thank you for simply being there.

Thank you for letting me spread my wings.

Thank you for being my best friend.

I hope you know just how much I love you, and, even when I'm not always right there with you, I will always be your little girl. I'll always be the little girl who thinks my daddy hung the moon. I'll always look up to you, and you'll always be my hero. There will never come a day when I won't need you. I love you, Dad.

Love Always,

Your Little Girl

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
