An Open Letter To Brock Turner

Because who says a rapist doesn't deserve 6+ years in prison?

“They are all innocent until proven guilty. But not me. I am a liar until I am proven honest.” - Louise O'Neill

Rape. It is simply that. Rape is defined as, "The crime of using force or the threat of force to compel a person to submit to sexual intercourse." Many, many people are raped every single day. In a study completed by the Department of Justice, and the CDC, they discovered that, One in Six women had experienced attempted, or completed rape. At the time that those women were raped, 22% of them were under the age of 12, 54% of them were under the age of 18, and 83% of them were under the age of 25. Rape can happen to anyone, men and women. Now back to the man, or should I say BOY, for whom this article is really written, shout out to you Brock Turner. Aren't you so proud? Aren't you so proud to know that MONEY and STATUS can literally bail you out of any situation? Aren't you proud to be registered as a sex offender, and to only have to spend 3 months in jail for "just" raping someone? Aren't you proud to know that your so-called athleticism and daddy's money can bail you out. Because I sure as heck am not proud. I am not proud to say that we live in a country where our legal system thinks it is okay to let people like you only serve a mere 6-month sentence cut down to 3 for good behavior, because you raped a woman. You are disgusting, honestly. That's the only word I can find on this PLANET to describe you.

Raping a woman is bad enough, man, but doing it while she's unconscious? That's just evil. You are an evil, evil BOY; yet all I can think about is what is wrong with the people who raised you? The people that are supposed to serve justice where justice is due? What is wrong with those people? Something SINISTER. They claimed you shouldn't have to serve in prison because of what it would do to you. Well what about that poor woman? What about her? No one in your family seems to be concerned about what YOU did to her. Your father, a so-called "MAN" says that no one is giving that woman grief for being a SLUT. That's right, your father called that poor woman a slut because YOU raped her. What about the PHYSICAL TRAUMA you left behind? The bruising, the penetrating trauma you caused this woman. Yet all anyone is worried about is poor little Brock and what this might do to his SWIMMING CAREER. Disgusting. Your father thought that prison was a steep price to pay for "20 minutes of action."

I find that hilarious honestly. I find the whole thing hilarious.

Yet again, somehow your actions are supposedly minor. Yeah, because brutally assaulting someone is minor and is only worthy of 3 months in jail. We've got people doing years and years for marijuana possession, but we're letting rapists walk free because they are obviously too entitled to handle what will happen to them in prison.

Great job, America.

The woman even took the time to tell during the sentencing in 7,000 words about what you have caused her.

7,000 WORDS.

She described it as basically losing her worth, her confidence, her voice. You have emotionally impacted that woman forever. But congratulations to you, Brock, for managing to somehow not take responsibility for your actions, and use your daddy's money to get out of something you should spend the next 6 years in prison for. You're a real charmer, all right. Congratulations for only getting 3 months in JAIL, and 3 years of probation because I'm sure that will make you learn a lesson. Also, congratulations for somehow making everyone, including the judge and jurors believe that you have done nothing wrong. In all reality, Brock, you, my friend, are just another low-life like the rest of the rapists. Whether it be unconscious, conscious, alcohol induced, or sober,

RAPE IS RAPE.

All I have left to say is, really guys, GOD BLESS AMERICA, because something isn't right in this oh-so awesomecountry we live in.

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
