Sometimes not feeling like yourself at all is the best way to find yourself. Then there are some circumstances that require you to let go of everything to truly figure out who you are. Finding yourself, especially after a saddening event in your life, is a hard thing to do. Some days you feel like you are the king of the world, and other days you feel like there isn’t a single person that loves or cares about you and that’s a hard pill to swallow. It feels like the world would rather throw you around and bury you than pick you up and make you a king. But the most important thing during these times is to focus on who you are as a person, and even discover yourself even further.

Life can throw a lot of distractions in your way and make you believe that you are someone that you are not. These distractions can be anything and everything and it’s hard to avoid them. They make you feel powerful, full spirited and ready for anything, but I can promise you they won’t last. After they’re done filling you they leave you back in the pit that you started at. They aren’t your friend, but more like your worst enemies. Don’t fall into their trap because if you do, you’re guaranteed to lose yourself. These things will tear you away from who you truly are.

Life also has a funny way of picking you up for just a little while, but then finding a way to drag you back down. Somedays it will feel like everything is back to normal. You know who you are and you know that everything will be fine, but then something happens, it doesn’t have to be huge, that will set you back. It’s easy to lose yourself during times like these, but it’s better to regain your focus and remember that you are bigger than these moments. These moments will pass and you’ll regain yourself again.

It’s never easy to remember who you are during these time, but the best thing to do is to focus. Focus on what makes you who you are. Whether that’s your friends, family, religion or anything else that can bring positivity into your life. The world isn’t a happy place that you see in the movies. No, instead it is filled with distractions, pain, hurt, anger and sadness, but through all of those you will be able to keep yourself the way you are. It won’t be easy, nothing good in life comes easy, but I can promise you that the payoff is worth it in the end. I can promise you you’ll be better off than someone who never tried to keep going. Don’t be the person that gives up on themselves because, “they can’t do it” or “it’s just too much.” Be the person that says, “I’m bigger than that” or “I won’t be conquered.” I can promise you if you keep yourself true to who you are you will be better off.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
