Dear Friends,
I'm just going to say it: You are not perfect. Neither am I. Neither is anyone in this world.
I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. If you want to live a healthy life, you've got to get over the fact that you're are not flawless.
Recently, I made a mistake. Not a devastating one, but one that came with consequences. People were upset. I had to confess that what I did was wrong, and as someone who holds herself to a very high standard, that was incredibly hard for me. I had to apologize and offer my aid in fixing the situation. Thankfully, everyone involved was understanding, because they knew what I'm still learning—making mistakes is a part of being human.
I'm far from perfect in my knowledge of perfection, but here's what I have gathered so far.
First, don't let the fear of messing up prevent you from completing a task in the first place. It's better to give it your all and be wrong rather than refusing to step up at all.
Every once in a while, give yourself a reality check. Look around at those around you and ask, Are they all perfect people? Am I trying to reach a level all of them are already on? Chances are, the answer will be no. Everyone is in the same boat. Just focus on doing the best that you can do and send encouragement to others along the way.
Finally, you've got to realize that when you do make a mistake, it's not the end of the world. Sure, it might be embarrassing or painful. It might cost you respect or even some friends. But the people who matter will love you no matter how many times you mess up. And every mistake is just a chance to learn how to do it better next time.
I hope this helps. I encourage you to go out there and try new things, make mistakes. Because for all the mistakes you make, I know you'll eventually be amazingly successful. Just be patient, sit back and enjoy.
Sincerely,
Megan
