"Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." - Tom Landry
I can't exactly pinpoint how long I've been in love with the game of football. I can't pinpoint back to what game started my deep, deep love for the game, but all I know is simply that.
I love the game of football. Maybe it runs in my blood, maybe it's just how my mind works. I've never been exactly sure why I love football so much. I love all kinds of football. High school, college, NFL, even backyard football is entertaining. Something about hearing cleats hit the pavement when walking into the field, something about the sound of shoulder pads hitting shoulder pads, the sound of a football being kicked. Football is a soul sport. Some people are made to love football, others are made to love the other things that come with the football games. Some people are there for the cheerleaders, some for the band and some just to socialize. Ever since I can remember, Fridays have always been the one day to look forward to at the end of the week, because Friday means football, and football means you get to fall a little more in love with the sport every play. Fridays hold a large place in my heart. The alma mater, the national anthem, the playing of the fight song during every touchdown.
September 2, 2016 the Cordova Blue Devils, my very heart and soul, advanced to a three win no loss streak, making sure to keep the number one spot in the polls and my heart. Football for me is much more than just a sport.
Football for some is just a sport, it's not as deep as some of us may make it out to be, to others though it's the one thing they love more than anything in this world. Some of us have a deep connection with football. Mine comes from my grandfather. That man has had me watching football for as long as I can remember. In my house we live for Alabama football, we live for the game. When I was about 16 I met one of my most favorite people in this whole world, Raymond Anthony McCarron, Jr. I've had car tags with his name on them for three years in a row. My mother and I drove over 300 miles to watch him play against the Cleveland Browns. Being my very first NFL (National Football League, for those of you who don't really know anything about life) game I was not exactly sure what to expect.
That game was the best game I've ever been to. I don't know if any of you faithful readers have ever been to an NFL game but if you have not been, I suggest you start saving for it and go because it definitely is not like a college game and not something you experience every day. I hope you guys can one day love football as much as I do, because it is totally worth it. God bless America, happy Labor Day––oh, and HAPPY COLLEGE FOOTBALL OPENING WEEKEND!
