For the love of Mac and Cheese

5 Reasons why Mac and Cheese is the real MVP

For the love of Mac and Cheese

1. Cheesiness

The foundation of mac and cheese is the cheese itself. It is essentially the star of the dish. Without it it’s just pasta noodles after all. You can add as much or as little cheese as you like, and any kind that you want. There’s really no wrong way to make mac and cheese. Or is it?

2. Stove Top vs Baked

I personally prefer baked mac and cheese over stop top. Especially if it comes from a box! Yuck! No offense to people that love box mac and cheese, I just prefer it when it’s home cooked. One of the reasons why I like baked over stove top would be for the crispy top! While stove top can also me made from scratch, I just don’t think that it lives up to baked mac and cheese.

3. Variations

Just like the many options of cheese, you can add whatever you want to mac and cheese. You could even go completely vegan and gluten free or use zucchini or some other vegetable as your noodle. There are also a million (probably not really) but a lot of additions that you can add to make your mac and cheese special. From veggies, making your rue with beer (a cheese sauce) to adding meat, herbs, breadcrumbs, or even making it a grilled cheese. There’s really no wrong way to make a delicious of mac and cheese. People are even adding it to burgers (check out Reb Robin’s Buzz Man ‘N’ Cheese Tavern Double Burger). It’s a scoop of mac and cheese between two patties of meat.

4. Comfort

While Mac and Cheese is good anytime, it’s especially good when you’re feeling blue, that time of the month. There’s just something about a nice hot plate of cheesy noodles that can turn a bad day into a much better one. At least for the moment.

5. It's the Perfect Side Dish and Main Dish

Mac and Cheese is both versatile but it’s also the easiest to pair with a main dish. I think that it’s most popular with some type of chicken but it can be paired with literally anything from pork, beef, fish and it’s also a perfect stand-alone main dish with or without salad as a side.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
