For The Girl Who Needs To Hear It

You're killing this thing called life.

When you're lying in your bed crying over a boy who did you wrong, remember this:

You're beautiful, strong, and better than he deserves.

When you're lonely and you pick up the phone to text that boy who you know will give you attention, remember that’s not the kind of attention you want. And you deserve better than what he can give you. More than what he's willing to give you.

When you feel like the world is crumbling around you, remember to rise from the rubble, brush yourself off, and build yourself up again.

Everyone around you seems to have everything you want and watching them be happy is sometimes too painful. The jealousy you feel is nothing to be guilty for. Don't be ashamed for struggling to be happy for them, even if they're your friend.

Not everyone is going to see you the way they should and not everyone is going to appreciate what you have to offer. More times than you'd think, they won't. But that doesn't mean you stop doing what makes you, you. Don't change because a boy wants you to, don't change because someone doesn't understand you, don't change because you're different than those around you. What makes you different, makes you special and is what will make someone fall for you.

You've worked so hard and accomplished so much, don't let that go to waste. You're strong, independent, and a force to be reckoned with! Remember that there is beauty in your struggle, and where there is beauty there is strength. To quote one of my favorite quotes, “Always remember, you are braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem. Smarter than you think. And twice as beautiful as you’d ever imagine.”

So when you're feeling like you've hit the wall and you don't think you have the energy to go on, remember that anything worth having in life is going to be difficult.

Keep that pretty little head up because you’re killing this thing called life, and you’re killing it hard.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
