To The Girl That Can't Seem To Catch A Break,

We all have those days or weeks where it seems that nothing goes our way. You fail a test, you get a pimple, you forget to do you homework, bad hair day, and so on. Those days make it seem like the whole world is out to get you, and you can't help but throw yourself a little pity party. And while it's okay to feel a little bad for yourself sometimes, I'm here to tell you that after you throw your 5-minute tantrum and cry a little, get it together and carry on.

It's one of those things that is WAY easier said than done, but the saying rings true that you set the mood for your day/week/month whatever. If you decide to wallow in self-pity all day, then that's your choice, but just take into consideration what I just said; it's your choice. You can choose to feel bad for yourself for a minute, that's okay, we all do it. But after that few minutes or so is up, pick yourself up and choose to try and make your day go better.

If you're having trouble figuring out how to do that, go do something that makes you happy. Go grab your favorite cup of coffee, read a good book, lay out in the sun, take a nap. Anything that makes you a little happier, just do it. Even the worst days can turn around when you're doing something you like.

So give yourself a little pep talk.Remember who you are. You're strong, you can handle anything life throw your way. I'm not saying its not okay to be sad sometimes, because it is, but I'm reminding you that you are the sole controller of your thoughts, feelings and actions. So when you are feeling sad, rely on yourself to try and feel better. Everyone has their bad days, but what matters is how you decide to spend your bad days. It's your choice.

I know most of this is, again, way easier said than done, but my point is, you have to at least try. Don't feed your demons, and don't give into the negative thoughts. Remind yourself that either way, the bad days will end and the good ones will always outweigh the bad.

Sincerely,

Someone Who Has Been There.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
