A Letter For The Boys

They're only a little less drama than girls.

Thank you for being my big brothers.

Growing up, I made friends more easily with boys. In school, I talked to the guys, and got along with them simply because we were more similar than I was with girls. I understood almost every sport, because I grew up not only watching them, but enjoying them. I listened to their types of music, and I thought girl drama was just as dumb as they thought it was. We made the best of friends, without any effort, which is exactly how it should be, always.

So, to the guys...

Thank you for being my big brothers. Thank you for making me laugh hysterically at myself and at others. Thank you for making my smile shine brighter than the stars in the moments where I thought I may never smile again. Thank you for always picking up everything you had going on to, and coming all the way out to wherever I was, whether it be down the street, around the corner, miles away, or in a different city, just to make sure I was okay. Thank you for the band-aids to heal the cuts and scrapes I get from all the things I did with you, that girls usually don't. Thank you for revving up your engines and following me home to make sure I get there okay. Thank you for never ever letting anyone cause a problem with me, but at the same time, teaching me how to fend for myself if I ever need to; now I can kick all of your asses. Thanks for the almost never-ending small arguments over where we're going to go, or who is going to drive, or who looks better. Thanks for always letting me win because we all know I always looked the best. Thank you for making me brave enough to try anything you guys would do, even if it was just because I am that competitive.

Thank you for making fun of me to absolutely no end. For pointing out my flaws in such a humorous way that I learn to love them with all of myself. Thank you for the crazy, sleepless nights of adventures and memories. Thank you for throwing me in the mud, or the snow, or the ocean, and laughing at me while I try to tackle you guys in with me. Thank you for bringing me my favorite ice cream when I don't feel like getting out of bed to drive and get it myself, and more importantly thank you for remembering my favorite. Thank you for chasing the sunsets with me just because you know how much it makes me happy. Thank you for taking me to the animal shelter when I am sad, so I can pet and play with the puppies, and thank you for wiping away my tears when I realize I can't save all the dogs with no homes. Thank you for supporting all of my endeavors, my games, my shows, my graduation, my college career, thank you for being there through it all.

Thank you boys, for being the absolute greatest of friends, and the best big brothers a girl like me could hope for. Thank you for accepting my every weird quirk, and loving them like you love me. Thank you for letting me forget my head sometimes, but for always screwing it back on straight for me. Thank you for being there, when I'm not there for you. Thank you for loving me, you boys will never know how much I love you.

For the boys, you really are the best. Thanks for rocking.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
