For the best friend who became my sister

They say that blood is thicker than water, but I believe that blood does not define a family but yet, a family is defined by the bond and love that they share. You meet certain people in your life that you just naturally click with and over time you form a bond that is unbreakable and eventually those people become family, and that’s what you have become to me.

You are my person, you get me and I get you. We have gone through the good times and the bad and we have managed to keep the close bond that we have. I know I don’t tell you enough but I’m so thankful God brought you into my life. I honestly don’t know what I would do without you.

You’re my best friend, my rock, my partner in crime, but above all of these, you are my sister.

Thank you for coming into my life and not leaving. (Let’s be honest we know too much about each other so sorry but you’re stuck for life). Thank you for being our personal DJ when we go on road trips, and singing at the top of your lungs with me. We have had many road trips over the years and many successful in-car performances.

Thank you for being my personal therapist, I feel like I can talk to you about anything and I won’t be judged for it. I know you will listen to me and tell me what I need to hear no matter if I like it or not. You don’t always give me the response I want to hear and that’s one of the many reasons I love you, you are completely blunt and honest with me. We have both been there for each other through rough breakups, deaths, and even through any other curveball life has thrown at us. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on during these times and helping me to pick myself up and keep going anytime I try to give up.

Thank you for the numerous nights of stuffing our faces with chocolate cakes and ice cream while watching sappy love movies.

Thank you for always being up for my random adventures. Lord knows we’ve had a ton of them. From brunches in Bahrain, scuba diving in Australia, snow tubing in a mall in Dubai, to just the basics like trips to the beach and aquariums, it’s always a blast no matter what we do. We have some awesome memories that we will never forget and a million more memories to make.

There are so many things that I could thank you for but we would be here forever if I did. God couldn’t have done any better when he chose you to become my baby sister, not only did he know that I needed someone to guide and protect but he knew I needed someone to help direct me when I lose my way and that’s exactly what we do, we balance each other out in this crazy life. One thing I can say is over the past 8 years I have watched you grow from a young girl who at one time hated me more than anything, to an amazing young woman who I love with every piece of my heart. No matter where life may take me always remember I’m here for you and I will never turn my back on you. After all you are my baby sister and that’s how it will always be.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
