An Open Letter To My Mom
Brooke Liszkiewicz

To the one person I know who will always be there for me no matter what,

I know you will always have my back even when I don't make the best decisions. You're the only person I can tell absolutely everything to, and know you won't judge me; at least not too harshly. You're my best friend even through the hard times. Thank you.

Thank you for always being the first person I can go to with my biggest news and always giving me supportive and honest feedback. You always give the best advice and know exactly what to do. You know me better than anyone -- it's almost scary how well you know me, even when I don't want to admit it -- you're always right.

Thank you for always forgiving me. Even when I argue with you and act like a complete brat for reasons that I'll probably forget within the next few days, I know that I can drive you completely crazy and have been doing it since I was 5 years old. But in the end, you always forgive me. No one else would ever put up with me like you have.

Thank you for always taking my side. Whenever someone had yelled at me or told me I was wrong or when a boy made me cry, you were always there to support me and let me know that I was better than the bad things that had happened to me. Through all the hard times I've gone through growing up, you were always the first one, and sometimes the only one, to be there for me and help me through, which has taught me to always stand by those who I love as well, no matter how hard the situation was.

Thank you for giving me the confidence to be the woman I am today. For always pushing me to be a better person and work hard for what I want. You taught me to always do the right thing and to be a more selfless person when it comes to helping those who I love and care about. Most importantly, you taught me to never take anyone's crap or let anyone take advantage of me.

Thank you for being my best friend. For letting me spill all the best gossip to you because I know you won't tell anyone. For letting me be honest with you about all the stupid things I've done because I know you won't be mad at me. You raised me to learn from all of my mistakes.

Thank you for never letting me give up. To work hard for the things that I want most in life. You pushed me to work hard in high school and into college. I never would have gotten through all of those college applications without you there. For reminding me that when I don't want to do something or when things just completely suck, that everything will always work out in the end.

Most importantly, thank you for being my mom. I know I don't say it enough but you are the most amazing woman I know, and I wouldn't be the person I am today without your love and guidance.

Love,

Your daughter

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
