Dear Momma and Daddy,

I love to positively gloat about you both and talk about you like you are royalty because in my eyes you are. I want you guys to know how much I truly appreciate and love you. You should probably get some tissues ready because you might need them.

You are my two favorite people on this Earth; that will never change. You are my heroes. I do not know what I would have done if I did not have you both. You guys were my rock through my surgery, other heart procedures/problems, anxiety and my first heartbreak. You have helped shape me into the person I am today. I grow every day with your help and will continue to do so. You push me to be and do my best. You lift me up when I am down and always support me.

I know I do not always make the smartest decisions but you guys taught me to do what I think is best for myself. I can also be very mellow dramatic sometimes but I love that you guys make fun of me when I do it because it makes me realize how ridiculous I can be. I know that sleeping over my friends' houses is not your favorite thing in the world but at least I am doing that instead of getting wild at some party. I still love spending time with you guys, do not forget that. I need you to understand that I am not a very open person. Never really have been but I am working on it because being more open means being closer to the both of you. Sometimes I get ready to tell you guys something but I overthink it then get scared. I push that thought deep down so I do not have to think about telling you guys. Trust me when I say I am working on it.

I do not think anyone has ever taught me how to love better than you two. Love is not something that can really be verbally taught but you guys do a great job of showing it. I have never seen two people be more in love. It is like something out of a movie and it is amazing. My friends are always telling me how cute they think you guys are together and all I can say is "I know. I am pretty lucky." You love me unconditionally which makes me have that same love for others.

You both have taught me so much and I still learn every day. I have learned the basic things like kindness, manners, and respecting others but I've also learned the more complicated things. Like how holding a grudge or being hateful will not do anything besides make yourself angry or how important it is to budget and save money even though that is something I am still working at.

Not everyone gets to have both their parents in their lives. I am thankful I have the both of you. I honestly do not know where I would be without you. I finally graduated high school but I am still your baby girl. Even though I really wanted to go to Widener University, I am kinda glad you are making me stay in state. I do not think I would be able to get through my freshman year without you. Thank you for everything you have done for me in the past, present and future.

I love you so much.

p.s. Don't think I forgot about my brother. I love him too.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
