Can you smell the cinnamon in the air? Yes, it’s finally fall or otherwise known as the unofficial official season of the basics, if you don’t know the term basic, use urban dictionary. Pumpkin spice lattes, leggings, big sweaters, and booties or boots, how could you not love fall? Every season has trends some inspired by celebrities, others have been evolved from past trends, so what are the 2016 fall trends? You’re in luck! Let's get into it.
From summer to fall just like the leaves, the colors that we often wear change too. This season maroons, blues, dark greens, and burnt orange are in full force as the colder weather creeps in. Using these colors in one piece of clothing, green army jackets, sweaters, or skirts, paired with basic colors is being seen from the runway to the sidewalk!
It goes without saying that plaids will always be a trend no matter the year, but fall is the main season to break out those plaid oversize shirts and belt it off to have some structure. From wearing them as an actual shirt, as a cardigan, and now we are seeing longer plaids used as dresses. In any way, plaids have surfaced and will be shown in many garments, but hey, I’m not complaining!
Often jeans are black, blue, ripped, faded, light, dark, baggy or skinny, or even a worn look, but for this fall ripped jeans, blue or black, are being paired with boots and layered tops is just one way to ensure a polished professional look as well as a casual, fun day look as well.
How could it be fall without getting a little festive?! With the NFL starting, Halloween, and Thanksgiving how can you resist the temptation of putting up Halloween decorations, or getting out those cozy heavy blankets? Making Hot Chocolate but putting a spin on it by adding mints, spices, other liquid items that would require a 21-year-old and so many other options! From getting festive with painting, creating, or being inspired by this season is exactly why it's here! From going apple picking, carving pumpkins, eating too much (or not enough) candy that you “bought for trick or treating visits”, or reliving the old memories as a kid.
Fall is that time of year when we are able to reflect on memories while making new ones. Having the vivid colors of the leaves blending together and in no order, expresses that change is not such a scary process. Unless it involves clown, if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then keep it that way (trust me). PSA if you want to feel safe and not get hurt this Halloween don’t dress up like a freaky clown with a mask, it’s not funny.
Sipping hot chocolate, apple picking, sweaters, boots, football, and the crisp, chilly, refreshing air is what a New England fall is all about!
