In the midst of the unknown and chaos that is circling around us and making our heads spin, it is so easy to get consumed with the negativity and the fear that is being spread even faster than the coronavirus is.
In order to not become quickly overwhelmed with the uncertainty, we must still find the good in every single day.
Since being quarantined and laid off my job as a waitress, I had to decide that I was not going to let anxiety and panic fill me. Instead, I had to hold on to hope that tomorrow would be better, and I began going through all of the things that I take for granted each and every day.
I hope that even during this difficult time that you can stop and appreciate even the smallest things that make life so very beautiful.
I hope that one day when we do return back to our "normal routines" that you do not take a single second for granted.
I hope the next time you have to turn your alarm off at 7am that you do so with a thankful heart that you get the chance to get out of the house.
I hope as you pull into the local coffee shop where the employees know your order and name that you do not get frustrated with the car in front of you for taking too long because they are getting coffee for their co-workers as well.
I hope you pay for the coffee for the person behind you because you never know what kind of morning they had and your act of kindness might be just what gets them through their day.
I hope that when you get stuck in the line of traffic of school busses turning into the schools that your heart fills with joy knowing all of the kids have another day of learning and playing and growing.
I hope that when you walk into class or into your office that you hold the door open when you see someone with their hands full.
I hope that the next time you have to wait in the long grocery line that you do not become impatient but grateful that there are plenty of supplies to go around.
I hope the next time you put your toes in the sand and can hear the waves crashing not far from you that you laugh and play just as you did when you were a kid without a single care in the world.
I hope you enjoy every second of celebrating your grandmother's birthday party and not wish you were anywhere else but right there soaking up the laughter from all your family members.
I hope you hug your friends tightly and appreciate every moment that you spend with them. Rather it be a quick run to sonic or a night in watching The Bachelor or hanging out by the pool, relish every minute like you won't be able to do it again for several weeks.
Although it is so easy to go on with our day and just try to get through it so we can return home and watch our favorite Netflix show, I know at this point you are beyond tired of Netflix and are itching to do something else, so the next time your day is slow or you were late to work, I hope you can look back on these days of being quarantined and see how far we have come and how much we have to enjoy in every single day we live.
