Tim Tebow may be considered one of the best College Football Quarterback of all time. He was that good in college. At the University of Florida, he was a two-time National Champion, a Heisman Trophy winner and broke every quarterback record for the Gators. What people may not know about Tebow is his off the field activities. Tebow is a very, well known Christian and uses his faith in the most elegant way. Even through Tebow’s long and strenuous schedule he still has time to travel to the Philippines to help restore the towns, go to children’s hospitals to pray and hang out with the kids for the day and many other deeds. Tebow has such a big heart and that’s what makes him such a good person.
Tebow was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round in the 2010 NFL draft. No one gave Tebow a chance. They thought he couldn’t throw the ball, they thought he wasn’t a good runner, they thought he wasn’t accurate with his passes and they said he could never play in the NFL. I have to say, Tebow has been through a lot in his life. First things first, Tebow shouldn’t even have been born. While his parents were on a retreat to the Philippines, his mother drank contaminated water by mistake while pregnant with Tim, which made her very sick with many infections throughout her body. The doctors told his mother that the only way she would live through the child birth is if she had an abortion. Since the family is Christian, his mother risked her own life so Tim could be born. Tim was born and with enough prayers, his mother lived and was healthy through the child birth. So, Tebow has been through a lot, even since birth. Do you really think Tim Tebow cares what people say about him? Do you think he cares that people said he couldn’t do anything in the NFL? Of course not. And that is a reason why he is one of my heroes. Tim Tebow takes care of the haters the best way anyone can, by proving them wrong on the field and letting his game do the talking. In 2012, Tim Tebow took over the starting quarterback position after the team fell to 2-5. Tebow led the team to 8-8 and ended up making the playoffs. Tebow led a comeback win in the first playoff game against the superior Steelers. The Broncos ended up losing the next game, but what Tebow did that game was remarkable. However, 2012 was a long time ago. Tebow ended up playing for two more teams after that game and four years later, at the age of 29, is no longer in the NFL. No one gave Tebow a fair shot. But yet again, Tebow doesn’t listen to the haters.
Tebow is so famous that everyone knows every little thing about him. Someone is always covering him because he is such an icon. Tebow ended up working for ESPN after his stint in the NFL and everyone thought that he was just going to be an analyst as his career. No one thought he would do anything else except talk about College Football because everyone knows everything about Tebow's life. Well we were all wrong. Adam Schefter, out of nowhere, broke the news saying 2005 Florida All State High School Baseball player, Tim Tebow, will hold a work out for any Major League BASEBALL team who wants to attend. Wait, what? I thought to myself, did I read that right? Is this true? After reading it I had a huge smile on my face. Tim Tebow is back. Well, somewhat back. No one knew that Tebow, for the last 6 months has been training to play in the Major Leagues with former Major League All Star Gary Sheffield.
28 Major League Baseball teams attended Tebows work out. Some scouts said Tebow should never play baseball again in his life, some scouts said Tebow could be really good in the MLB and some scouts said he can be good but needs a lot of work. After talking to some teams after the workout, no team offered him a contract. Tebow hit a 450-foot homerun, which is remarkable, and ran a 6.7 60-yard dash which is really good. Not many people in this world can do that. Tebow went a couple weeks without hearing from teams even though teams were interested. People were criticizing Tebow left and right. People hated him because they wanted him to give up, they thought if he wasn’t good at football then he should just quit trying to play another sport. It’s not worth it. You’re not good enough. Well the New York Mets called, and out of nowhere the Mets signed Tebow to a contract. The Mets want to give Tebow a chance. After reading that my face lit up. My favorite team, favorite player and my role model will be joining forces. SO many people criticized the Mets for signing him. People said it’s just a business move, Tebow will be a distraction and he’ll be taking playing time away from young prospects. Well, in my opinion, it’s a win-win for everyone. One the Mets are going to make a lot of money for signing Tebow. He’s an icon and people want his merchandise. Two, what happens if he’s actually good? Like scouts said he can be really good in the MLB? He did hit a 450-foot home run against a former major league pitcher just a couple weeks ago. Three, Tebow can’t be a distraction if he is playing in the minor leagues. No one on the major league team will care what Tebow is doing in the minor leagues. It’s not like Tebow will start in the majors right away. I say the only time Tebow is a distraction is when he is playing well in the minor leagues and he is on the verge of getting called up. However, that’s a positive because he is playing really well. And finally, Tebow is not going to take playing time over any young minor league prospect. Tebow will be in the minor leagues and the Mets only have one, good, young outfielder and him and Tebow won’t even be on the same team. So what playing time is he taking away? Tebow gets his chance at pursuing a dream and playing professional baseball, that’s his win. It’s a win-win situation. And if Tebow sucks, they cut him and he goes back to his day job. No bad feelings. They gave him a shot and he’s grateful. But if Tebow is good? Well the Mets have a a good baseball player on their team for $100,000. Who wouldn’t sign up for that? Tim Tebow is a go getter. He is going to work his ass off to make the Mets team. The Mets are going to give him a shot and work to make him better. Tebow will do everything in his power to work hard and be a positive role model. Another thing, Tebow will be a great mentor for the younger players. Tebow has lived through it all, he’s a great athlete and person. If these young players have any problems, Tebow can talk to them and help them. He also leads by example, he’s a great leader. He doesn’t have to be good at baseball to mentor young players.
Listen, I know Tebow making the Mets is a long shot. But this guy is 29 years old and just trying to get the most out of his life. There is no problem for him to give it his all and live as many dreams as he can. You really only do live once, so why not enjoy it and live to the fullest? People who tell him to quit or to stick to his day job, why? He can’t live his life? He can’t enjoy every moment? I bet if those people could play professional baseball they would. And just because he wasn’t the best football player he has to quit after that and give up? Absolutely not. Live life the fullest, you only get one life, enjoy it. I know Tebow is and I’ll enjoy watching him play.
Oh, and one more thing. Tebow knows you’re talking bad about him, he just doesn’t care. He’ll let his game do the talking. You all wait and see. Tebow will deliver, like always.
