With all the chaos from the election, I think it’s time for millennial adults to embrace the throwback pleasantries that brought so much joy to our childhood. I’m pretty sure, Hey Arnold! was a staple in many 90’s babies households. I know I loved the show greatly, and I often wondered what jazz music “football head” would listen to in 2016. It’s no secret that Arnold was a big fan of jazz music, here are five jazz songs I think Arnold would greatly enjoy in today’s crazy world.
1. Lady Wray- "Do It Again"
This soulful song is a great choice that Arnold would love. The song uses plenty of jazz elements including trumpets, drums, and a melodic singer that makes the song come to life. The song is busy, but controlled and I think football head would defiantly jam to it. The singer's soulful and brassy voice make the song unique and up-beat for Arnold.
2. Kenny G- "Songbird"
Legendary jazz icon Kenny G's "Songbird" would defiantly have Arnold relaxing to the smooth sounds of saxophone melodies. The beautifully pitched saxophone is accompanied with a laid back melody, that can lead Arnold's mind in to a dream-like trance. "Songbird" is a classic jazz song that stands the test of time and really showcases the talents of the saxophone.
3. Sade- "Smooth Operator"
(Sigh) Oh, Sade. Why do you have to be so great? "Smooth Operator" is the jazz song that gives off "sexy" vibes. It's perfect for Arnold if he wants to set the mood for a date night. With vibrant sounds from the saxophone and a sultry voice from Sade herself, Smooth Operator could guarantee Arnold win a second date after his lady listens to it.
4. Norah Jones- Don't Know Why
"Don't Know Why" is great song that will provide Arnold's ears with a contemporary jazz sound that's somewhat slow and gentle. Norah Jones's sweet voice compliments the piano so softly and it seems the two are in perfectly harmony. This song would serve as great "coffee shop music" for Arnold as it isn't loud or abrasive.
5. Tony Bennett featuring Amy Winehouse- Body and Soul
Rest In Peace Amy Winehouse. This song is so beautiful, Arnold would appreciate the raw vocal talent that Tony and Amy bring to this jazz classic. The lyrics are also beautiful and describe loving someone's physical body in all of it's imperfections and intricate soul. The two voices blend perfectly together and the soft piano in the background makes this song a joyous tune. Arnold might have this song on repeat because it truly evokes the sound of jazz.
