Since coming to California for college, I've come to really miss New Jersey foods that sustained me for my first 18 years of life. I can't count the number of times when I've said that something a bagel would've tasted better some Taylor Ham or having some gravy on fries, only to be met my confused stares. Here's a list of food you've probably eaten if you're from New Jersey, and what I've come to miss dearly.

1. Disco Fries

You've probably had these at a diner late at night with your friends. Gravy and melted cheese are the true pair in heaven.

2. Taylor Ham

I'm from North Jersey, so excuse me for not saying pork roll. Still, I'm pretty sure both regions can appreciate this amazing piece of meat on any breakfast sandwich.

3. Kohr's Frozen Custard

It's the ideal dessert down the Shore. From its amazing shacks to the perfect combination of orange and vanilla, it's terrible how you have to wait until the weather gets warmer to go south.

4. Bagels

Nothing says a Sunday morning more than a fresh bagel from a local shop. Whether with a smear of cream cheese or as a packed sandwich, you can't find better bagels anywhere else in the country.

5. Salt Water Taffy

Every shore town has a plethora of salt water taffy shops. Either individually or in pre-packaged boxes, you probably have brought an entire pack home and finished it in days.

6. Tomato Pie/Pizza

Just like the bagel, you can't find better pizza anywhere else. Aside from great pizza, we have a spin known as the Tomato Pie. Why wouldn't we? We are, after all, famous for our tomatoes as well.

7. Italian Hot Dogs/ Sandwiches

There are tons of Italians in New Jersey. Whether with a hot dog or on a sandwich, you've probably tried a variation with the familiar peppers and onions that scream "The Garden State" in your mouth

8. Italian Ice/ Water Ice

It's another summer memory dessert. With its dozens of flavors, you probably remember eating it as quickly as possible, before the sun got to it first.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
