Chick-fil-a Vs. Raising Cane's: Which Is Better?

Time after time, this issue has been brought to my attention. Colleagues, friends, acquaintances, family members, these are just a few people who have approached me to hear my thoughts on this matter. Well alas! The wait is over.

Round 1: Chicken

Because both of these restaurants focus mainly on their quality of chicken, it only seems fitting that I start here.

Chick-Fil-A offers many types of chicken, including: fried, grilled, and chicken salad. Canes on the other hand, only offers one: fried. Canes is miles behind on this one.

Winner: Chick-Fil-A

Round 2: Fries

Remember when I said, "my opinions are the only ones that matter"? Well you knew what you were getting yourself in to, Canes fries are infinitely better than Chick-Fil-A's fries. Waffle fries have always been and always will be the runt of the french-fry litter. They hurt your mouth because they are rock hard unless cooked to absolute perfection and even then they are still sub-par. Canes has perfected the art of the french-fry and for that they win this round.

Winner: Canes

Round 3: Sauces

Have you ever tried canes sauce? It will change your life. Need I say more? Actually I will say more. I know what you are thinking, you probably are wondering why I gave Chick-Fil-A the advantage over Canes because their chicken selection was more diverse but now Canes wins even though they have one sauce. As much as I would like to explain my reasoning, I won't. Moving on.

Winner: Canes

Round 4: Drinks

This one is actually surprisingly tough. Both restaurants feature your average run of the mill soft drinks on tap. They both, however, offer lemonade as well as homemade sweet tea. Both are great in their own ways, but the edge here goes to Canes. I may or may not have flipped a coin to decide that one, but what choice did I have.

Winner: Canes

Round 5: Dessert

Chik-Fil-A may have the best fast food shakes out of any restaurant in general. When you add on their new frozen lemonade as well as the classic sundae's and soft serve that they provide it seems tough to beat. Meanwhile, over at Canes headquarters, no one in their right mind has thought to add dessert to the menu. I have tried to wrap my head around why they refuse to do so for years now and still can not find a reason.

Winner: Chik-Fil-A

Now the moment all of you I'm sure you all skipped to instead of simply reading each round. It is time to announce the winner of this edition of Food Wars.

The winner is ... Chick-Fil-A!

The knockout punch here were the shakes. If you love Canes and hate me, thats dope. Congrats Chick-Fil-A on being our winner winner chicken dinner.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
