With all of the bad luck we had in 2016, here are some ways to increase your luck for the new year:

1. Greens

Supposedly, greens are supposed to represent money.

2. Beans

Beans, like greens represent money. Commonly people will eat lentils or black eyed peas (often paired with collard greens) for hopes of wealth in the New Year.

3. Noodles/Grains

Similar to Chinese beliefs, noodles are symbols of long life and grains stand for abundance.

4. Grapes

In Mexico, it is not uncommon to have a grape to represent each month of the following year. The bitterness of the grape will indicate how each month will be.

5. Pork

Pork can also be found with beans and greens. It will represent luck for the new year.

6. Sauerkraut

In German tradition, pork is often paired with sauerkraut instead of beans and greens. The sauerkraut also tends to represent luck.

7. Cake

Ring-shaped cakes (think Bundt cakes) usually with trinkets and small objects baked inside, symbolizes going full circle. The trinkets usually also have some sort of meaning behind them. For example, if one has a slice with a ring in it, it may mean that they'll be engaged within the following year!

8. Fish

Fish is considered lucky due to the fact that the scales of the fish look similar to shimmery coins.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
