Those that know me will be shocked when I say this, but Thanksgiving is coming, and oh man, am I pumped! I LOVE FOOD! Just thinking of all the mouth-watering food I’m going to shovel into my mouth gives me goose bumps. I know we all have our favorites, but here our five must-haves that are a necessity everyone needs to enjoy during this glorious holiday.

1. Green bean casserole

Wow, what a dish! The key is to get the right green bean, cream of mushroom soup, and crunchy onion chip ratio. Onion chips need to be the main ingredient for you to experience the awesomeness of this dish. The cool thing is you don’t even need to like onions! I hate onions but something about these crunchy ones are life changing. If you don’t love green bean casserole, you haven’t had the correct ratio.

2. Mashed potatoes and gravy

Honestly, this dish should be served for every meal. The mashed potatoes alone are outstanding with butter and a couple pinches of salt. Pinches are key here to avoid clogged arteries, unless that’s what you’re going for — then, by all means, salt shake away. The gravy is to potatoes as icing is to cake. You really need it to be fully satisfied with the potatoes you’re consuming. Plus, it makes the rest of the food on your plate better, if you aren’t one of those that freaks when your food touches. It’s okay if you are, I’m just saying you may not experience gravy the way I do if you are.

3. Turkey

It's not my favorite meat, except for on this holiday. I personally prefer ham, but you can’t have Thanksgiving without this bird. And that gravy I just mentioned? GREAT on turkey! I don’t have too much to say about this dish other than you have to have it. It’s traditional, so it’s silly not to.

4. Peanut butter fudge

This is the real reason I look forward to Thanksgiving. This dessert will have your taste buds raging in your mouth. Kids, a rager is just another word for an awesome time. I don’t have the exact recipe for this as it’s kind of a secret in my family, but you definitely need to try it. It melts in your mouth while being healthy and satisfying at the same time. What more could you ask for in a dessert? Nothing at all is the correct answer here. Do yourself a favor and find your new obsession in this beautiful dessert.

5. Pumpkin pie

I’m not a huge fan of pie, but pumpkin has me feeling some type of way every year. Ice cream is this pie’s best friend. Another fave food, but you don’t need to wait until Thanksgiving to eat that one. Anyways, if you’re going to have a pie during this season, pumpkin is the way to go, unless you’re allergic (omg how do you survive?), then you shouldn’t. All others, stuff those faces with this fantastic dessert.

I know I gave you a lot of awesome options. It’s impossible to choose one so you shouldn’t — just enjoy all of them. Your taste buds and stomachs will love you forever. I’m aware I left out some other awesome dishes, but I love food so you’d be here forever if you were trying to read them all. If you have any of the above and don’t enjoy them, then I’m just going to let you know, you’ve been eating the wrong types of these dishes.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
