The food in Arizona is much different from food in Alabama...maybe even a little better. Now I know "food" is the south's middle name, but Arizona is slaying the game. Here are my top four favorite things I've tried on my adventures there:
1. Sonoran Hot Dogs
Whenever my girlfriend first told me about these, I was a little skeptical because I don't care for hot dogs too much. These changed my life, though. I don't even know what the bun is, but it's super fluffy, and I could eat it just by itself. So it's a hot dog that's wrapped in bacon and topped with beans, tomatoes, onions, relish, mustard, and mayonnaise. It sounds a little strange, but I promise it'll make a typical hot dog look as boring as history class.
2. Eegees
Eegees is a restaurant only Tucson has, and that's something that needs to change. They have super yummy sandwiches, bomb ranch fries, but they're known for something else. Anyone from Tucson reading this may kill me for my description, but they have these things that are kind of like a slushy mixed with Italian ice. Once you've had it, it's easy to tell what the hype is about!
3. Carne Asada fries
Honestly, anyone who even just sees a picture of these is going to start craving them. They're fries topped with carne asada, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole. If that doesn't sound good, there's something wrong with you.
4. Raspados
I don't even really know how to describe these, but it's kind of like if shaved ice had a really rich older sister who's just better at everything. There are a few different kinds to choose from, but my favorite—well, the only one I've tried—is a mango one. I could eat like seven of them right now.
Arizona truly has some great food. You haven't lived unless you've tried it!
