Why You Might Be Focused On The Wrong Things.

I recently have been thinking a lot about this myself, what really is going to make me happy. As humans all we want is to feel like we are living the best life or have the answers we so desperatly seek. I started looking into it and we all seem to want to find fame and money and we are so influenced every day by the world to make us think these things will make us happy. We have people feeling like if they don't do a certain thing by a certain age they are doing life wrong. We focus so much around the material things or what the world tells us is best. Recently a former Kansas State student quit college and called it a scam (Feel free to look more into this it's a real interesting story). This kid had a wonderful point in that the choices society tells us are the best for us aren't always the best for each person. There are other opinions I have about what he did but that's a whole different topic.

So often we focus on all these little things that don't seem to matter and add so much stress to our life. My dear friends the true secret to a long happy life isn't about the objects we have but more about the relationships we have with people. It seems so simple in theory, but it is so hard to really value the relations we have with the people we love. We should find value in the people we care about. Tell people how you feel, open up, spend more time with people. We think that life is all about work, that if we just get that promotion that life will get better. We forget how short life is, and we get so caught up in using up all our time trying to become famous or become extremly wealthy. These things aren't bad things at all, but when we focus all our energy on these things we miss such an important part of life. There is an amazing Ted Talk about "Lollipop Moments," about how we can all have these little moments that affect people's lives. My friends, we need to focus on the things we find important. Things that when we are old we can look back on and say we lived life to the fullest. It's time we take more time to do the things we love with the people we care about. It's time we focus on the things we find important and not what the world tells us is best. So don't settle for that job you know you are going to hate, or be in a relationship that you know is not good for you. Life is too short to not enjoy every second of it. So value your friends, love what you do, and let loose. Make memories, take adventures, and make every second count, and that will help you live a life you can enjoy looking back on.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
