I used to fear the rain,
I used to fear the sound
Of an oncoming train.
I used to be afraid
That somehow
Everything I stood upon
Would fall.
Until one day,
I let go of it all.
Then I held on tight,
But in a different way.
With opened eyes
And open hands,
I chose to dance in the puddles
And count the cars on the tracks.
I learned to listen
And take it all in
And to my surprise,
It felt like I could fly
Away somewhere,
With gravity on my side,
Making me stronger
as our forces collide.
