What if I told you that a notification on your phone saying, “Your UberChopper is arriving now,” could be a reality? Uber is expected to expand their business and start to offer helicopter rides as an Uber option. The plan is supposed to be put into action this month, and the company will experiment with the project at the Sundance Film Festival. An Uber car will be used for rides to and from the helicopter as well. The move is supposed to be a part of Uber’s plan that will start to offer more on-demand services, such as food, and other modes of transportation, such as boats.
Uber will be partnering with the European company, Airbus, to fly out their new helicopter additions to the company. Uber has played around with the idea of a helicopter ride in the past, as it has given promotional chopper rides for promotional festivals and large stunt events. No prices have been given for the new expansion, but for the promotional rides, the price was around $400 per person. So, do not think waiting for a helicopter in order to get to class is going to be an everyday option now.
This could be a revolutionary step for the $62 billion worth company. Arriving in style at your friend’s party, or planning a destination vacation, could be made easier with the click of a button and a notification letting you know that “Chad is arriving in three minutes with your UberChopper.”
Fly safe, my friends.
