If you didn't already have the flu or currently have the flu right now, I can guarantee you that recruitment will make sure of that you will get the flu. Even if you got the flu shot, there is no promises that it will actually work and protect you from this alarming virus.

The flu shot has been calculated to only be 30 percent successful. Many children have obtained other illnesses such as pneumonia after receiving the flu, and unfortunately many children died from these complications. It is very upsetting hearing news like this knowing that there can't be much done to prevent the illness from hitting everyone.

Since the flu is air born, anyone can have it and accidentally spread it by simply just breathing over you or coughing near you. You don't need any contact to acquire it from someone else.

I, myself got the flu shot but did not prevent the flu. Actually, I had acquired the flu, but a more mild version of the flu thankfully during recruitment. Talking to girls for hours and hours on end in a small, enclosed area is literally asking for everyone to get sick. Hence, what happens to me? I get the flu the second day into recruitment. This was very unfortunate for me because being a sophomore, I was very excited to see girls rush on the other side of it. Thankfully, it was a very quick recovery for me. My very close friends were literally out of commission for about an entire week, however, I felt a lot healthier really quickly. A small fever, headaches, and pretty lethargic wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My other friends had it a lot worse than me.

Just feeling like you might potentially have the flu then hearing that you actually have the flu are two very different things and is very frightening because of the death rates this year.

So, the point of this article is that it is literally essential to keep up your hygiene, keep clean by washing your hands, spraying lysol, showering, using hand sanitizer, no touching anyone else, no rubbing your eyes, and more. There are so many precautions you can take to try and prevent this scary illness.

Another important tip that I learned last year is to take Emergen-C every day, especially during recruitment. Either take the gummy version or the powder version which you then insert it into a water bottle.

I promise you that whatever you end up doing is only helping yourself, not hurting yourself. It's better than doing nothing, so just do it. If you want to be at recruitment in its entirety, go get the flu shot and take the proper precautions so you're not missing out on anything.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
