Flowers of sparks light up the sky.
Creating sounds of thunder
That roll over the land.
They mark a new year.
They mark a new beginning.

As the sparks shimmer and die
Onlookers laugh with joy and hope.
Hope that the new year will be fresh
That the new year will make the bad ones disappear.

But the new year will bring its own challenges
Things we must fight for
People we must stand against
There is no guarantee that this will be any better

But we still look on with hope
Because that's what we have to do
We stand together
Through times easy and rough
And look forward to the next year
For the flowers of sparks.
