After living in this state all my life, I have realized how most Floridians react to hurricanes: they don't. It's kind of interesting because you see everyone else freaking out, and then there are Floridians. No more sandbags pushed against doors, no more emptying out Publix's water supply, no more boarding up windows and doors, no more major panic. So, I have compiled a list of 20 things that I think scare Floridians more than hurricanes do.
1. Sandhill cranes
2. Losing your summer tan during the winter
3. Weather colder than 70 degrees
4. Publix running out of subs or fried chicken
5. Clowns
6. Touching the seat belt on a hot summer day
7. No shady parking spaces
8. Tourists
9. Driving amongst senior citizens
10. Driving the interstate during tourist season
11. Afternoon showers while the suns out
12. Losing cable during a bad thunderstorm
13. Broken A/C
14. Giving a tourist directions
15. Fire ants and palmetto bugs
16. Alligators...although we have become immune to these.
17. Mosquitos and the Zika virus
18. Spiders
19. Politicians
20. Heatstroke
