It's practically never a bad day to spend outside in Florida. The excitement of constant warm weather is something we are lucky enough to experience most of the year, but going to your local beach or spending every afternoon in your pool can get old real quick if that's all you do.
When it comes to being outside, there's a lot to do in Florida. Change up your regular weekend routine and check out some of these unique spots around Florida:
1. Devil's Den Spring
Near Williston is the Devil's Den Spring, which pretty much looks like something you would only see on the Instagram of a world traveler. Whether you are into scuba diving, snorkeling or just swimming around, this is definitely a place for you. With the water at a constant 72 degrees Fahrenheit, it's the perfect place to cool off from the Florida sun. Be sure to get there early though, because many days they reach max capacity.
2. Ginnie Springs
On the Santa Fe River in High Springs, you'll find the beautiful Ginnie Springs. This is one of the most popular springs in the state. This is primarily due to the insanely clear water that makes for the perfect tubing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba and cave-diving conditions. Whether you want to be floating on top of the water or exploring inside of it, you're bound to enjoy yourself here.
3. Falling Waters Park
Florida isn't exactly known for having many waterfalls, we barely have any at all actually. So, the beauty of a waterfall here isn't something that should be under-rated. The Falling Waters is about 100 feet high, which is as big as it gets in Florida. Located in Chipley Park, this is definitely a great place to go for a hike.
4. Bok Tower Gardens
In Lake Wales, you can get a close-up view of the 205-feet-tall Singing Tower and the 250-acre garden surrounding it. This is a National Historical Landmark that anybody would enjoy wandering around surrounded by nature.
5. Jacksonville Farmers Market
Grocery shopping is less than exciting, so why not turn that chore into something fun? Get some fresh air and fresh produce by checking out a farmers market. Locally grown food is becoming a big trend, so you're bound to have a local farmers market near you. If you want to take a trip to Jacksonville they currently have one of the biggest and most successful markets in the state.
6. Ravine Gardens State Park
This 59-acre state park in Palatka, Florida is a great place to go if you want to be surrounded by nature. There is a 1.8-mile paved trail that you can bike along, multiple extensive hiking trails that lead around the ravine and even a fitness trail. So why not get some exercise while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Ravine Gardens?
7. Venetian Pool
This historic swimming pool was built in 1923 in Coral Gables, and is still open today. It's currently the largest freshwater pool in the United States and definitely a popular spot during the sunny days.
8. Florida Caverns State Park
Located in the Florida Panhandle near Marianna, this cavern is the perfect place to spend some time inside no matter what the weather is like. This is the only park in Florida that offers cave tours to the public, so if you want to see this type of natural beauty without leaving the state, this is the place for you.
