Florence: The Most Beautiful City
Kirker Holidays

I arrived only in Florence three days ago and I am already in love with it. Every street you walk on and every building is out of a fairy tale. The city has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life.

Not only is the city itself beautiful but so is the life within the city. People are so friendly and try to take up conversation. Just this morning, as I enjoyed my cappuccino, one of the cafe employees took the time to speak to my friend and I.

The way of life here in Florence is unlike anything else, I have ever seen as well. I feel that in America we are always on the run, rushing, and running our way through life. I personally feel like I'm always rushing and worrying about what is ahead.

The culture here in Florence is the total opposite and it is amazing. People are very relaxed and take the time to enjoy the world around them. They sit and enjoy a morning coffee, they eat late and enjoy their meal.

In just a few days, I have already learned so much and I am so excited to make this apart of my everyday life. I think it is important to stop and enjoy the world around you. I think it is important to learn from Florence that it is ok to sit down to dinner with your friends and enjoy it and spend time just bonding.

Another part of the culture here in Florence is their commitment to the environment. I feel that in America we aren't as conscious about our actions and how they effect the Earth. I am already so blown away how they don't use a lot of shopping bags and how they are really conscious about washing the streets and making sure to take care of the environment.

It is safe to say that I have completely fallen in love with the beautiful culture and sights of Florence and it has only been a short amount of time.

While this city is older and a completely different world from home, it has made me open my eyes and change the way I look at the world. In addition, it has given me an appreciation of where I come from, but its also taught me new things that I will bring back into my own life.

If anyone ever has the opportunity to study abroad and get the chance to really live within a new culture, take the chance. While adjusting may be hard and things may be difficult, it will give you a whole new perspective and it will make you learn more then any textbook can teach you, I promise.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
