The flooding in the city of Durango, Mexico has affected several cities and has caused the deaths of at least five people in September 2016. All of the streets were turned to rivers of mud and several buildings collapsed.

A project was organized to send supplied and donations over to Durango. The organization arranged trucks to drive supplies and help the people effected by the recent floods. This disaster has caused mass devastation to those from Durango. Three of the victims are thought to have died when their vehicle hit flood water. Another victim died to have died when a house collapsed.

Local media reported that 97 mm of rain was recorded in just a few hours overnight, between 29 and 30 September.

According to Jesse Martinez, who put together and organized this donation project, "There were many paisanos from all over supporting the effort, including friends that are not from Durango or Mexico. People have come to together to coordinate and support in a very quick and efficient manner. The information that had been published was a result of a days activity."

The Melrose Park Mayor Ron Serpico reached out and helped during a critical time. The secured was location at 1501 N 25th ave Melrose Park October 3rd from October 7th from 8:30am-8pm. The supplies being donated was accessible in the back by the docks. There were volunteers that helped receive, load and solicit donations that helped flood victims. The trucks and drivers were used depending on the amount of supplies.

Martinez added, "There was a good amount of donations, many people participated and it was a great experience."
