Fleeting, fleeing
Disappearing
Nature runs to hide
From the destruction
Of oppressive
Overbearing and “wise”
Humankind
Natural colors
Replaced by
Manmade hues
Grey and black
Cover the once beautiful
Greens and blues
Leaves, stones, ferns
Paved over
Pressed down to dirt
Horns, screams, screeches
Polluting the air
Disrupting songs
Once sung by birds
Now their feathers
Fall like rain drops
Down to the desolate
Urbanized Earth
Our natural roots
Have escaped us
Forcing our world
Into the sky
The once bountiful
Wildlife is no longer
Able to thrive.
