The end of the semester is a time of struggle, stress, regret and fear. All of a sudden, there are 12 assignments due in the next three days. Most professors decide this is the perfect time to fit in one final presentation before finals begin. Flagler College is no exception, with countless students walking around in business casual attire for their last presentation. But because Flagler is so unique you get the pleasure of watching these male students in suits zip by on skateboards. (This can be women in dresses too.)
Because we are a school by the beach, many of the students here know how to surf and also skateboard. At Flagler, getting around on a skateboard tends to be one of the better options. It's faster than walking when you find parking at FEC five minutes before your class in Pollard starts. There's always a nice breeze on ridiculously humid days. And you are the envy of everyone walking to class because they don't know how to skateboard (me). Obviously, just because a student needs to look professional to give a presentation, doesn't mean they're going to stop skateboarding to class.
It's interesting to see students in suits and riding a skateboard because it makes me think about the clothes they usually wear. They're typically in more Tyler the Creator-esque apparel. For those of you who don't know what that looks like or who Tyler the Creator is, he is pictured below. Very fun patterns and comfortable to optimal skating pleasure.
In the end, do what you've got to do to get that degree. And if that means wearing a suit and riding a skateboarding to class, then you do just that and with gusto. In all fairness, I'm actually jealous you're coordinated enough to skateboard and don't have to walk to class.
