The character Josh Lyman who is Deputy Chief of Staff fills in during a press briefing because the Press Secretary CJ Cregg had root canal.

This similar to when White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer did his first white house briefing and accused the media of false reporting of two inauguration photos were framed to minimize the support of people that gathered for the inauguration. the first photo was from Obama inauguration it showed massive crowds and trumps inauguration you could see empty space.

On Meet the Press Trump senior advisor Kelly Anne Conway stated Sean Spicer comments about inauguration photo of the crowd were alternative facts.
