As a newbie here on Odyssey, I figured one of my first articles should be one describing myself, and what better way to do that than by using my favorite TV show. Sheldon Cooper could be considered the least relatable character from "The Big Bang Theory," but we all have ways in which we are just like him, and these are mine.
1. "I weep for humanity."
While I am part of the millennial generation, I am also entirely aware that we are too dependent on technology. While the technological strides that the world is making are incredible, the amount of people attached to the six inch screen they carry around in their pocket is also skyrocketing. Yes, I do believe that there are people from my generation that are going to do great things, and help to change the world, but I also am afraid for our future due to this small influx.
2. Oh, I'm too tired to do this."
Happiness, health and hunger are three adjectives that can typically describe me, but 100 percent of the time I am tired. This could be attributed to 40 hour work weeks or my insomnia, but this quote by Sheldon is definitely one I use at least once a day to describe doing chores, school work, going to the gym or just the simple task of walking to the kitchen to get a glass of milk.
3. "If you don't mind, I'd like to stop listening to you and start talking."
One thing my friends will all tell you about me is that I love the sound of my own voice. While I am a great listener, and love to hear about your day, I also know that I love to talk about my own in excruciating detail, from the food I ate, to the amount of mileage from my gas tank that got used on my ride into work.
4. "Are you still depressed because you're alone and no one loves you?"
Going along with the previous image, this famous Sheldon line is one that I know all too much about. I have a lot of sympathy when someone is in a time of need, but I can also be extremely apathetic. It's not that I don't care about others in terms of their feelings, or events taking place in their lives, but in my head things typically sound less bad than they do out loud.
5. "Change is never fine! They say it is, but it's not."
The last necessary bit of information about myself is that I don't like change. My room hasn't been moved around in six years because I do not like the idea that I might trip over something that I forgot I moved when I get up to use the bathroom at night. The reason for this is due to my anxiety, which is almost as bad as Sheldon Cooper's OCD that is portrayed throughout this series.
We all have that one TV character that we can relate to on a personal level, and mine is Sheldon Cooper.
